WHAT:
The Science Center Consortium of Florida suggested an exhibit that
showcases the many activities that go on within cities - the hidden
wonders that keep Florida's cities working every day.
The Consortium and the Mary Brogan Museum of Art and Science (MOAS) in
Tallahassee joined with the Florida League of Cities to begin the exhibit,
and have been working on it and the related activities for approximately
two years.
The exhibit is 2,500 square feet, with many activities for visitors, and
activities geared toward the thousands of students who visit these centers
every year.
WHY:
The quality of life Florida's citizens enjoy is not an accident-those
living in cities, working there and participating in their communities
make it happen! As one of the fastest growing states for more than 50
years, it is important for all Floridians to understand how everyday
services are delivered, and how unique and special Florida's cities are. A
list of the exhibit features is attached.
WHO:
In addition to the partners listed above, several state agencies and
associations have given their support to the exhibit, because they agree
with the message being delivered through the exhibit.
WHERE:
The exhibit will travel throughout the state for three years, and be
permanently housed at the MOAS in Tallahassee. Other sites include Tampa
Museum of Science and Industry; Daytona Beach Museum of Arts and Sciences,
Orlando Science Center, Jacksonville Museum of Science and History, Ft.
Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science, Miami Museum of Science ,and
Science Center of Pinellas County
